Students Framing the House

Work began on our 1,750 sq. ft. 3 bed, 2 bath, 1.5 story Cape house in Stockbridge, Ma. at the end of May 2024. The builders were four St. John’s College students: Dolan Polglaze, Isaac Vail, Tait Geijer, and our daughter, Eden Kammeyer, as well as our 14-year-old son, Judah Kammeyer, who had the most construction experience. Include captions identifying the people, project, and dates, along with photo credits and permission to reproduce the images for editorial coverage.

Dolan, Tait, Isaac, Judah, and Eden set the sill plates.
Judah, Tait, Dolan, and Isaac test out the first bent and rafter.
Tait holds the first post, while Isaac nails it to the sill plate.
Dolan and Judah start laying the second story floor over the first story ceiling beams.
The whole crew, standing on the second floor, lifts the first rafter to secure onto the posts.
